Jean-Claude Mathieu, Managing Director


With over 35 years of professional experience within the SNCF Group, Jean-Claude Mathieu has developed extensive expertise of railway infrastructure, methods of maintenance and engineering.  He also has detailed knowledge of the management of major rail infrastructure projects in France and abroad.

Having undertaken several missions as district leader and manager, Jean-Claude Mathieu then worked in the Engineering Division of the SNCF Group on major construction projects for LGV Est (Eastern high-speed line).

Director of Engineering Centres in Metz then North-Paris, he subsequently supervised analyses and works needed to maintain and develop major infrastructure:  connections of the Rhine-Rhone high-speed line, the Mulhouse Tram Train, signalling regeneration in Reims, Sarrebourg Réding, Nancy, Metz, Eole, Rosa Parks etc.  

His time in eastern France also enabled him to develop an engineering business in neighbouring countries and especially Luxembourg.

Finally, before joining SFERIS, Jean-Claude Mathieu was in charge of the General Project Management Department in the Greater Paris area Division of the SNCF Group.  His work was then extended to cover the whole of the Ile de France region including the SDA, TLN and ATM projects etc.

He joined SFERIS in December 2014 with objectives to develop the company according to the following principles:

  1. Entrench a culture of safety in every SFERIS worksite and in the work of every operator’s action.
  2. Constant concern for the quality of services provided, a key factor in the highly competitive market of rail works.
  3. Research new methods for innovative production, the emergence of new professions in maintenance and rail works
  4. And finally, optimise the company’s economic development and profitability.
